Comments : I met and became a student of Sensei Pat Pusateri when she started teaching adult students back in 1994. She has taught me not only karate skills but also confidence and how to respect myself. She has taught me to strive for more but to never discount my achievements. Pat Pusateri has lead her school with respect for others, humility, kindness strength and understanding while following the discipline that a traditional karate art should have. My 2 sons are now training at ATKA and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Comments : What stands out to me is the compassion and enthusiasm that you feel as soon as you walk into the Dojo. Each instructor is committed to upholding the ideals of the program. This winter my son underwent emergency surgery. I was so touched, as was my son, when we received a package in the mail from the Dojo. It was filled with gifts and cards from his instructors and fellow classmates. This special gesture encompasses what the Dojo is all about. They make each student feel special, and teach them lessons that provide them with the tools that will help them be successful in life.

Comments : Tiger Karate provides a supportive and challenging environment for both the young and old! Both Senpai Jason and Senpai Amy provide knowledgeable, encouraging and thoughtful lessons of the martial arts and personal achievement while having fun. Moreover, the testing process is goal oriented, meaningful and professional. As a family, we are grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow at the Tiger Karate dojo.

Comments : Our children have attended classes at ATKA for many years now. We have always been very pleased with the level of instruction, professionalism of the staff, and personal attention each student receives. Students not only learn self defense, but sportsmanship, discipline, respect and self control as well. Highly recommended!

Comments : I have been taking lessons in Okinawan Kobudo under Sempai Amy for over 5 years. This class teaches not just the basics but another level of control and respect. "If you don't respect a weapon it won't respect you" I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to learn how to defend themselves.

Comments : The class taught by Sempai Jason Palmer on Saturdays is a great class not Judy to be in but to listen to. The information is great and what students learn to do shows great karate.

Comments : My children have been members since January and we couldn't be happier. All the instructors are extremely knowledgeable in what they do and they conduct class in a way that is very age appropriate. My son and daughter love going to ATKA and I always feel very welcome to stay and wait because Sensei Pat provides a child friendly waiting area for the younger siblings.

Comments : My daughter, Gianna just finished the Little Tigers program after having participating in it for a year. She enjoyed it very much as Sempai Amy is very good with the children and made it fun and interesting every time. Along with games, the class taught the core values of self-respect, sportsmanship and discipline. Gianna and I are going to miss the Little Tigers class, but we look forward to her future training and development at ATKA.

Comments : My son, Kevin, has been attending ATKA for one year and loves it. Sempai Amy is a really great instructor who takes time for each of her students. I would recommend this dojo to anyone. It teaches, not only the students, but the parents about dedication, respect, and discipline for one another.

Comments : I am a student at Lake Forest College, and I have been attending an on-campus Karate class led by Sensei Pat since October of 09. Although I've only been attending for a little bit, I have benefited greatly from the class. I am gaining the important ability to be in tune with my body and find much needed balance. One kind of funny example that has really really helped me is when Sensei told me to simply let my shoulders drop and be in a relaxed natural posture instead of having them up-tight all the time. Also, the Karate class has inpsired me to start exercising regularly and to eat healthy. Sensei Pat is a great person and a great friend; she is kind, caring, wise, and a skilled martial artist with integrity. Overall, It has been a blessing to be in the Karate class and I highly recommend it. Hayah!

Comments : I started going to ATKA when they added Brazilian Jiujitsu under Sensei Pedro Vianna and I could not be happier. In just a few months I have gained a new level of confidence and motivation that I was certainly lacking. I do not take any of the Karate classes but I have been around the dojo enough to see how much Sensei Pat and Sempei Amy truly care about the students and push them to be better students and better people. I would definitely recommend ATKA to anyone who is interested in learning more about martial arts.

Comments : My very shy daughter began training at ATKA while in kindergarten in 2004. She is now a confident, outgoing 10 year old. The atmostphere here is engaging and the children are taught how to apply what they learn to everyday life. In addition to self defense, they learn self motivation, self respect, and accountability. Sensei Pat and the other instructors get to know the students and develop a relationship built on trust. It's amazing to watch how quickly the children advance under their teaching.

Comments : I have two boys joined this Dojo since April 2003 and one daughter joined on September 2004. We love this place. Sensei Pat is definitely good Sensei, she really wants to teach children. Her first priority is teaching to them not getting good business from people. When Higher Black Belt Sensei comes to our Dojo, said to students “ you are certainly earned your belt”. Because I know many other places just sell the belt. I am very proud of my children stay and learn from Sensei Pat even they feel training is hard because they know she cares and also knows about importance of characters.

I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to learn how to protect themselves, stay healthy and/or be part of a team.
